YES to SERVING THE COMMUNITY

A new school will also have many benefits for our community outside the regular school hours:

  • The replacement of West El and Shawsheen Preschool positions Andover as a town with a more modern school district better prepared to meet the needs of 21st century learning. This will increase the demand for homes in Andover and help to improve our property values
  • A new, climate-controlled school will increase the number of community spaces that are available for town use after-hours and year-round.
  • Turf fields will expand the after-hours play for community groups like Andover Soccer Association, Andover Little League, Andover Softball, or Andover Junior Football League, etc.
  • An architect for historic properties concluded that the Shawsheen Preschool building is sound and could be repurposed. Possible suggested uses include senior housing, offices, small condos, town document storage or for other community purposes.
