Our acceptance into the MSBA (Massachusetts School Building Authority) program ensures $38M in reimbursement for this new school. This means our anticipated share of the $152M new construction cost is $113M. With construction costs rising 5% on average every year and the annual maintenance costs on these two aging structures increasing, the cost to Andover of delaying this project or self-funding it will skyrocket. This is not a problem that will fix itself or go away. We have to address it now in the most fiscally responsible way we can for our town.

In addition, rejecting MSBA’s assistance on this project with a “No” vote could cost the town future grants for other school projects like Doherty Middle School or Andover High School.
